Most of the people want to study abroad or they are seeking for skilled immigration. IELTS is further classified into two tests; IELTS Academics and IELTS General Training:

IELTS General Training

IELTS General Training is almost the same as the IELTS Academic Test except for the reading and writing sections. It depends on the subject of your choice.

IELTS TEST FORMAT

Listening:

This part has 30 mints to complete. Four recordings will be played and then give the answers to the series of questions.

  • Recording 1 – a conversation between two people set in an everyday social context.
  • Recording 2 – a monologue set in an everyday social context, e.g. a speech about local facilities.
  • Recording 3 – a conversation between up to four people set in an educational or training context, e.g. a discussion on an assignment between a teacher and student.
  • Recording 4 – a monologue on an academic subject, e.g. a university lecture.

Reading:

Sixty (60) minutes are allotted for this section. The Reading segment comprises of 40 questions, intended to test a wide scope of reading skills. This contains reading for primary thoughts, point by point perusing, skimming, understanding the logical argument and well-known journalists’ assessments, attitudes, and reasons.

IELTS Academic test – this consists of three long paragraphs, which range from the illustrative, factual to the discursive, and investigative. These are taken from books, published journals, magazines, and daily papers. They have been chosen for a non-pro group of spectators however is suitable for individuals entering college courses or professional education.

IELTS General Training test – this includes extricates from books, magazines, papers, promotions, organization handbooks, and rules. These are materials; you are probably going to experience regularly in an English-speaking Environment.

Writing:

To complete this section you will be given sixty (60) minutes and this section is different for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training test.

IELTS ACADEMIC TEST

Points are of general interest to, and appropriate for, test takers entering undergraduate and postgraduate studies or looking for professional enrollment. There are two tasks:

  • Task 1 – you will be given a chart, table, graph or outline and requested to depict, condense or clarify the data in your very own words. You might be asked to describe and clarify information, portray the phases of a procedure, how something works or depict an item or occasion.
  • Task 2 – you will be asked to compose an essay in response to a point of view, argument or issue. Reactions to the two tasks must be in a formal style.

IELTS GENERAL TRAINING

Texts are of general interest. There are two tasks:

  • Task 1 – you will be given a circumstance and requested to compose a letter requesting data, or clarifying the circumstance. The letter might be close to home, semi-formal or formal in style.
  • Task 2 – you will be asked to compose an essay in response to a point of view, argument or issue. The article can be genuinely informal, semi-formal or formal.

Speaking

The speaking part evaluates your use of spoken English. Each test is recorded and it lasts for only 11 – 14 minutes.

Section 1 – the examiner will ask you general questions about yourself and scope of familiar topics, for example, home, family, work, studies and interests. This part keeps going somewhere in the range of four and five minutes.

Section 2 – you will be given a card which gets some information about a specific topic. You will have one minute to prepare before representing as long as two minutes. The analyst will at that point ask a couple of question on a similar topic.

TOEFL

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a test for international speakers who want to enroll themselves in English-speaking universities. TOEFL is accepted by universities all over the globe. This is both computers as well as a paper-based test. The range of the score is between 61 to 110, you have to retake the test if you get below 60.

National Accreditation Authority for Translators (NAATI)

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE)

If you are looking for a comparatively easy test than IELTS then and you often visit countries like Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Abu Dhabi, etc. then you can take this test and attach with the visa processing documents. This test will help you to get a chance to study in Australia and New Zealand; as well as it is valid for the skilled immigration for Australia and New Zealand. PTE Academic is a computer-based English Language test having a listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing portions.
